Financing Your Studies

Financing can be a very difficult obstacle to overcome particularly when one doesn’t have the monetary help to come to the US. There are however, ways in which people can find funding to attend school. The US is one of the world’s nations that highly supports education and as a result there is a lot of money given to individuals who apply and show that they deserve a scholarship through academics of other means to an institution.

Yet, not everyone is fortunate enough to get a grant or a scholarship from a school as a result there are other ways to get money to fund your education. There are loans, money that can be borrowed from the school itself, banks, or loaning companies.

Loans: This is money given to an individual or corporation in the condition that it will be paid back later after a student graduates. Student loans typically have lower interest rates as the government funds them. At times if lucky the individual will be given a grant, an amount of money by one party usually “Grant Makers,” which is by the government, Corporation, Foundation, or Trust to an individual, and the loan wont be needed to be paid off because the grant is free money given to the individual.

Scholarships: Is an award given to a student scholar by an institution or a by financial aid.  It’s purpose is to further the person’s education. They are based on many different purposes such as merit, needs, sociology, where money is given to a student by their race or ethnicity, and general, which may be given by a sponsor such as a corporation.

When given a scholarship it is an award that doesn’t need to be paid back but you must meet the requirements they set. Different scholarships have several different types of criteria some require the student to maintain a certain G.P.A level; others include the G.P.A along with certain hours of community service a year. Overall, it all varies from what the scholarship specifically is.
